Know4Nano Project Kickoff: Advancing Food Safety with Nanotechnology
On October 1st, the Know4Nano project officially launched, with the BioSense Institute leading the initiative as the project coordinator under the guidance of Dr. Vasa Radonić and co-leader Slavica Savić Ružić. Supported by Horizon Europe, under the Twinning Bottom-Up Programme, this pioneering project brings together leading European experts in nanotechnology to drive innovations in food safety.
We were honored to host our project partners at the BioSense Institute, including distinguished representatives from:
- Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2) – Spain
- Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) – Italy
- University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague) – Czech Republic
During a productive two-day kick-off meeting, we aligned our vision, outlined key project tasks, and laid the groundwork for effective collaboration. A valuable part of the event was a detailed lab tour led by Dr. Branimir Bajac, offering partners an inside look at BioSense Institute’s facilities and the advanced technologies driving this initiative.
Project Vision: Revolutionizing Food Safety with Nanotechnology
The Know4Nano project aims to revolutionize food safety by developing advanced biosensors capable of detecting foodborne pathogens at every stage of the farm-to-fork supply chain. By harnessing the power of nanotechnology, the project will enhance food system intelligence, improving safety, efficiency, and resilience across Europe.
This initiative goes beyond technological development—it seeks to create smarter, more secure food systems, making a tangible impact on public health and food security.
With the combined expertise of BioSense Institute and our esteemed project partners, we are well-positioned to drive meaningful change in food safety, shaping a future where food systems are safer and more resilient.
Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this exciting journey toward a safer food future.
