Hands-on Training at BioSense Institute

Know4Nano Consortium Advances Nanomaterial Expertise with Hands-on Training at BioSense Institute

The Know4Nano consortium recently reached a significant milestone in its mission to advance European nanotechnology. Researchers from across the network gathered at the BioSense Institute (University of Novi Sad) for an intensive, week-long training program focused on the electrochemical exfoliation of 2D materials.

The session was led by experts from the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT), Prague, as part of the project’s Horizon Europe commitment to inter-institutional knowledge transfer.

Mastering Advanced Synthesis and Characterization

The training provided researchers with practical, hands-on experience in scalable nanomaterial synthesis. Participants focused on the exfoliation of diverse 2D materials, including $MoS_2$, $MoSe_2$, $WSe_2$, and MXenes. Beyond synthesis, the program emphasized rigorous multi-scale characterization techniques:

  • Spectroscopy: Utilizing UV/Vis and Raman spectroscopy for material validation.

  • Topography: Leveraging Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to determine precise thickness and morphology.

Driving Innovation in Biosensing and Electronics

The exchange began with a technical keynote by Ms. Kseniia Mosina, setting the stage for a week of collaborative learning. By harmonizing these advanced synthesis protocols, the Know4Nano network is better positioned to drive innovations in high-growth fields such as nanoelectronics, energy storage, and next-generation biosensing.
