Dr. Angela Pennacchio holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Biology from the University of Naples “Federico II” (2013). She also graduated in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Biomolecular Science from the same university’s Department of Genetics and Molecular General Biology. Dr. Pennacchio is currently a Researcher with a permanent position at the Institute of Food Sciences (ISA-CNR) in Avellino, Italy.
With expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunobiology, and Enzymology, Dr. Pennacchio’s research focuses on the biochemistry and biophysics of enzymes and proteins. Her work involves gene cloning, expression, purification, and structural and functional characterization of proteins, with an emphasis on identifying molecular recognition elements (MREs) for use in the development of biosensors. These biosensors are designed for applications in food safety, environmental pollutant detection, and health-related diagnostics.
Dr. Pennacchio has been involved in several national and European research projects and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in the fields of biochemistry and microbiology. She has also contributed over 13 abstracts to national and international conferences and was an invited speaker at the XI National Biotechnology Congress in Varese, Italy. Her work is instrumental in advancing the application of molecular biology and biosensor technologies for improved food safety and public health.
