Dr. Jason Aldiss

Dr. Jason K. Aldiss BEM BVSc MRCVS is a prominent leader in veterinary public health, with over 30 years dedicated to advancing food safety and official control standards. As President of the Union of European Veterinary Hygienists (UEVH), he has represented the veterinary profession across Europe for over 25 years, pioneering technologies such as blockchain for traceability, AI for automated inspections, and biosensors for rapid pathogen detection.
For 25 years, Dr. Aldiss delivered comprehensive veterinary services through the company he founded, employing numerous veterinary professionals to regulate the meat industry across the UK and internationally. Now serving as Executive Director of the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS), he continues to integrate innovative technology into official controls, enhancing safety, efficiency, and compliance across the food supply chain. His leadership has set a high standard for modernising food industry practices in the UK and beyond.

Talk Title: Application of Biosensors for Official Controls in the Food Supply Chain

The implementation of biosensors for official controls can significantly enhance traceability, transparency, and accountability within the food supply chain. These tools contribute to a more efficient regulatory system by reducing reliance on manual inspection and enhancing the reliability of compliance checks. Ongoing advancements in nanotechnology and materials science are expected to further improve biosensor performance, expanding their potential applications within food safety and quality assurance. The widespread adoption of biosensors for official controls will ultimately lead to safer food products and greater consumer confidence in the food supply chain.
